We love our land, we live among our vineyards, and we offer our wines to friends and customers.
Worth more than any certification, which we do have, Marenco is a certified organic and sustainable farm.
Sustainability and Organic Farming
Making good wine, while caring for the land we live on
For us, sustainability starts with the people who choose Marenco: thanks to you, we can invest in our vineyards and cellar, using fewer resources and protecting the environment we live in.
100% organic, since 2015
All our vineyards, between Strevi and Nizza Monferrato, are certified organic and verified by an independent body. No herbicides, chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides, and 30% less sulfites than a conventional wine.
The soil
Grass between the rows to prevent erosion, green manure and only organic fertilizers to keep the soil alive. Before replanting a vineyard, we let the land rest for at least a year.
The vineyard
Rows that follow the contours of the hills to protect the soil. Weather stations and decision-support systems tell us when to act, and only with low-impact products. Against harmful insects we use mating disruption, not insecticides.
Energy and resources
Solar panels on the winery roof, concrete tanks that keep the wine cool without using energy, vineyards that are never artificially irrigated, lightweight bottles in recycled glass.
People and territory
We work with people from our area, including at harvest time, and we safeguard native grape varieties that risked disappearing, such as Caricalasino and Albarossa.
Research: the Scrapona Project
Since 2016 we have been studying the Scrapona vineyard with the University of Turin and the Asti Consortium laboratory, to understand how Moscato responds to a changing climate: less water, more heat, fewer sulfites.
A journey, not a dogma
Rainy vintages like 2024 put us to the test. But only by living organic farming every day can we keep improving it. Better one glass less, but made well.
