Time to Market

We live in an age where innovation is accelerating. Every year a new car model comes out. Every six months, a new smartwatch promises to change the way we live. A perfume line, a new spirit, a limited edition of sneakers: it only takes a few months to go from idea to finished product.

But wine – real wine – operates on completely different timelines. And it is precisely in this slowness, in the patience required to reach the glass, that its deepest value lies.

The Time of the Vineyard, not the Factory
Designing a car takes about 2-3 years. A new smartwatch can hit the market in less than 12 months. A spirit? Sometimes it only takes 6 months to develop a new recipe and bottle it. For a new wine, however, the timelines are radically different. There is no shortcut. There is no prototype. There is only nature.

It all starts in the vineyard. A new label begins with an idea, of course – like all products – but then it must pass through the soil, the climate, the hands of our winemakers. If the wine involves a grape variety that is not already cultivated, new rows must be planted: and here the timelines stretch drastically. A vine takes 3 years to bear its first fruit, but to obtain quality grapes for a great wine, it takes at least 5-7 years.

At that point, a first vinification can be done. Then it's tasted. We reflect. We evaluate whether the wine has personality, balance, elegance. Whether it can truly represent the winery. Whether it is worthy of bearing our name.

Only after these steps – which can last up to 10 years – does bottling occur. Then more time: for aging, to understand its evolution in the bottle, to define the label, the tone of its story, its identity. Every detail counts, because a wine is not changed every six months. A wine endures.

The Difference between a Launch and a Story
The time to market for an industrial product is linked to demand and competitiveness. The time to market for a wine, however, is linked to the rhythm of nature, the identity of the territory, and loyalty to our history.

A new Marenco wine is not created to "wow the market," but to endure, year after year, vintage after vintage. It arises from intuitions, experiments, trials in the vineyard and in the cellar. But above all, it comes from a simple idea: to make something that makes sense for our territory, for Monferrato, for those who have chosen us for generations. And in this sense, we are not in a hurry.
