Our Organic Choice
At Marenco, we have been producing wine in Strevi since 1925. For us, the vineyard is not just a business asset, but the daily backdrop of our lives: we live immersed in a nature shaped by our own rows of vines. This deep connection has led us to a natural awareness: we love our land and feel a duty to protect it. For this reason, since 2015 we have embarked on a conversion process that today sees our entire estate operating under 100% organic regulations.
The Guarantee of Certification: A Pact of Transparency
We chose organic certification because we believe in total transparency. We don't want "organic" to be just a word on a brochure, but a verifiable commitment. The agricultural and cellar practices we follow are obligatorily verified on-site by a third-party body. This is a fundamental guarantee for our customers and, at the same time, a constant incentive for us to always work better, perfecting every stage of the production process.
Organic as a Journey, Not a Dogma
For our family, organic is not a mantra carved in stone, but an evolving journey. It's a daily challenge that tests us, especially in the face of climate change. Extremely rainy vintages, like 2024, have shown us the difficult side of this choice: the costs for managing weeds and fungal diseases have significantly increased, against a quantitatively unsatisfactory harvest. However, we are convinced that only by trying, living it, and applying it to daily reality can we improve our agricultural practices. Every difficult vintage is a lesson that allows us to make our viticulture healthier and, in the long run, more sustainable.
No Shortcuts for an "Aspirational" Product
Wine is an aspirational product: those who choose us know that we don't take shortcuts. Although we are cost-conscious, we refuse the use of chemical products that would offer immediate savings but would be harmful to those who work our vineyards and to those who consume our wines. Our organic viticulture guarantees: zero herbicides and zero chemical fertilizers; healthier wines, with a sulfite content 30% lower than conventional wines; balanced soil management to preserve its organic matter.
Better one less glass, but well made! Wine is a pleasure, not a necessity. There's no need to exploit natural resources beyond their limit to produce more. Under the guidance of oenologist Patrizia Marenco, we enhance our indigenous grape varieties (Moscato, Brachetto, Barbera, Albarossa, and Barbera Bianca) producing exclusively "All Estate Wines," meaning wines made only from grapes from our own property.
Choosing Marenco means sharing this vision: a viticulture that accepts the challenges of nature to deliver to the world a glass that is a pure expression of health, quality, and respect.
